Halloween in Leighton Buzzard is a half term affair: the big events run from Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November 2026, and Halloween itself falls on the Saturday. The town’s own fixture is the Leighton Buzzard Railway’s Halloween weekend on 31 October and 1 November, and the biggest paid event is Freaky Fun Fest at Mead Open Farm in Billington. Every detail below was read from the organiser’s own page on 3 October 2026.

Leighton Buzzard Railway: Halloween weekend
The narrow-gauge railway at Page’s Park Station, Billington Road, LU7 4TG, ends its regular season with Halloween on Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November. The railway says the station “will be creepily decorated” and volunteers will be in costume, and it encourages visitors to dress up. (Leighton Buzzard Railway, Halloween)
- At Page’s Park, children dig for buried treasure in what the railway calls “grave robbing”.
- At Stonehenge Works, they hunt for hidden letters and unscramble them into a word to win a prize.
- Trains: steam on both days. Saturday runs the red timetable, with departures from Page’s Park at 10.30am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm. Sunday runs the blue timetable, a two-train service leaving at 10.30am, 11.40am, 12.50pm, 2pm and 3.10pm. Each trip takes about 90 minutes, including 25 minutes at Stonehenge Works. (Leighton Buzzard Railway, times and fares)
- Fares are the normal March to November returns: £12.70 adult, £11.30 senior (60+), £9 child (2 to 17), under-2s and dogs free. Gift Aid fares are £14, £12.50 and £10. Four or more paying passengers get 10% off.
Check before you go: the timetable page still says trains are “terminating at Stonehenge Work due to track damage on Munday’s Hill”. The railway’s Steam Gala the weekend before, on 24 and 25 October, is on our October half term page.
Mead Open Farm: Freaky Fun Fest
Mead Open Farm, Stanbridge Road, Billington, LU7 9JH, runs Freaky Fun Fest from Saturday 24 October to Saturday 31 October 2026, 10am to 5pm. It is £19.95 per person; the farm says booking online saves 20%, and annual members get in free without booking. (Mead Open Farm, Freaky Fun Fest)
The ticket covers:
- the Freaky Circus in the Big Top, with what the farm calls a new daredevil act for 2026
- two haunted Halloween mazes
- the pumpkin patch, with one free pumpkin for each paying or member child, subject to availability
- the farm’s usual indoor and outdoor play, including the SkyTrail and climbing wall, and the animals
Mead’s next event is its Fireworks and Farm Fun evening on 7 November; see our fireworks page.
Grove Farm PYO: pumpkins without a ticket
Grove Farm PYO at Great Gap, Ivinghoe, LU7 9DZ, sells Halloween pumpkins “starting 1st October”, either from the stall or picked from the field with a wheelbarrow. The farm says there is “no booking system and no entry fee, just a pared back pumpkin picking experience”, with parking and a café. (Grove Farm PYO, Halloween)
Its online price list shows pumpkins at £1, £3, and £2 to £4 depending on size. Entry is 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday (closing at 6pm) and 9am to noon on Sunday (closing at 1pm). The farm asks visitors to check its site or social media for changes to opening times. (Grove Farm PYO)

ZSL Whipsnade Zoo near Dunstable runs Boo at the Zoo from 24 October to 1 November 2026, themed this year on poisonous and venomous animals. (Whipsnade Zoo, Boo at the Zoo)

- Costume contests every day at 12.20pm, with a prize

- Ghastly Ghost Tours, which the zoo recommends for ages 7 and over “due to themes of death and gore”
- Spooky animal talks
The spooky train ride, ceramic painting and face painting cost extra. The rest comes with a zoo ticket; the zoo has not published a separate Halloween price. Parking is free and under-3s go free.
Woburn Safari Park
Woburn Safari Park runs Halloween half term from 24 October to 1 November 2026, which it describes as “no tricks, just treats”, so it suits younger children. (Woburn Safari Park, October half term)
- The “Ghostly” Woburn Railway: the miniature train from Bison Halt has a Halloween makeover and comes with the park ticket. It runs to the Alpaca Outpost, where hand-feeding costs £1 a pot.
- Spooky keeper talks: collect six stamps on a card to enter a prize draw for a Safari Off Road Adventure for up to four people.
- Madaga-scare Charity Weekend, 31 October and 1 November, for World Lemur Day, raising money for IMPACT Madagascar.

It is a one-hour show for children, £9.99 a seat, under-18-months free. Frosts says details of the acts are “coming soon”. (Frosts, Cirquoise Halloween circus) Show times are on our Cirquoise page.

Leighton Buzzard Library Theatre, Lake Street, LU7 1RX, screens Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom (U) on Monday 26 October at 2pm. Tickets are £7.70, under-16s and concessions £6.45, plus Central Bedfordshire’s £1.25 booking fee per ticket. (Library Theatre box office)
If spooky is not the point, the Greensand Trust’s £4 Autumn Trail at Rushmere Country Park runs 23 October to 1 November. That and the rest of the week are on our half term page.

What is still to be confirmed
- The Munday’s Hill track damage. If it is still unrepaired on 31 October, trains turn back at Stonehenge Works.
- Cirquoise’s acts, which Frosts has not yet named.
