Meet Santa by steam train from 28 November (£15 a child), at Mead Open Farm from 5 December, at a theatre show on 19 December, or free on the Rotary float.
There are four ways to see Santa in Leighton Buzzard this Christmas: a steam train to his grotto at the Leighton Buzzard Railway, Father Christmas at Mead Open Farm in Billington, a Christmas show at the Library Theatre, and the Rotary Club’s Santa float going round the streets. The first three are booking now. The float is free, and its 2026 route is not out yet.

Leighton Buzzard Railway: Santa by steam train
A 25-minute steam train ride from Page’s Park station, Billington Road, LU7 4TG, then a walk to Santa’s Grotto, where every child aged 12 and under gets a present. Adults get mince pies and punch. Allow up to an hour. From 19 to 23 December the 4.30pm and 5.30pm trains are “Glow in the Dark” specials, with the line lit, hot chocolate and marshmallows toasted on the station fire pit. Christmas at Mead Open Farm, 5 to 24 December
Mead Open Farm, Stanbridge Road, Billington, LU7 9JH, runs Christmas at Mead Open Farm from Saturday 5 to Thursday 24 December 2026. Its event page lists what the ticket includes: (Mead Open Farm, Christmas at Mead Open Farm)
- a group story and picture with Father Christmas in his grotto, and a toy from his toy store
- a teddy from the Make a Bear workshop
- gingerbread decorating with Mother Christmas, and a bag of reindeer food to take home
- three things new for 2026: a North Pole Post Office to write to Father Christmas, an Elves Workshop walk-through, and a show called The Super Sprouts
- the Alpine Village, the animal barns and the indoor and outdoor play, though the SkyTrail, climbing wall, Shaggy’s On Road Adventure and tractor rides are closed
The rules worth knowing before you book:
- Every visit must be pre-booked, and everyone needs a ticket, babies included. A child under 1 still gets the toy and the bear.
- The time you book is your slot with Father Christmas. You can arrive from 9.30am, and the farm asks you to be there 20 minutes before your slot. A missed slot is not guaranteed a later one and is not refunded.
- Tickets are non-refundable. Moving to another date costs £5 per ticket with 48 hours’ notice; another time on the same day is free.
- Members get 20% off until 31 October. A disabled visitor’s carer goes free with proof of disability (PIP, DLA or a Blue Badge).
- The farm is cashless, and only medical assistance dogs are allowed.
The event page does not state the ticket price; it is shown on the farm’s booking site when you pick a date.
Santa’s Best Ever Christmas at the Library Theatre, 19 December
A 45-minute Christmas show for young children at Leighton Buzzard Library Theatre, Lake Street, LU7 1RX, on Saturday 19 December at 2pm. Children’s TV presenter Chris Jarvis is the recorded voice of Dasher the Reindeer. Tickets are £13.75 for an adult, £12.75 for under-16s and concessions, and £51 for a family, plus the council’s £1.25 booking fee per ticket. The Rotary Santa float, free
The Rotary Club of Leighton Linslade takes Santa and his elves round the town’s streets on its float. The club says it “travels the town for all of December”. (Leighton Linslade Rotary Club, Community Activities)
Last year the float set off on 3 December at 6pm around Cotefield Drive, and the club published a route for each evening and a live Santa tracker on its website, with donations to Santa’s charities through JustGiving. On Christmas Eve, the club’s Carols in the High Street ends with what it calls “the traditional departure of Santa on his worldwide mission”. The club’s page also describes a lantern parade before the carols, with lantern-making workshops, but it gives no 2026 time or date for the workshops. (Leighton Linslade Rotary Club, Lantern Parade)
