Leighton Buzzard’s Remembrance Sunday is on 8 November 2026. The parade leaves Lake Street for Church Square, where the Act of Commemoration at the war memorial begins at 10.55am, followed by a service in All Saints Church. Linslade holds its own act of remembrance later in the day in the Garden of Remembrance on Mentmore Road.

This year’s Remembrance Sunday, will be held on 8 November, with the traditional parade departing from Lake Street, and arriving in Church Square for the Act of Commemoration at 10:55am.

  1. The parade sets off from Lake Street and arrives in Church Square.
  2. The Act of Commemoration at 10.55am at the war memorial in Church Square, with wreaths laid.
  3. A service in All Saints Church, straight afterwards.
  4. The Linslade Act of Remembrance later in the day at the Garden of Remembrance, Mentmore Road, where wreaths are laid.

What happened last year

  • Hundreds of people, with veterans, uniformed organisations and dignitaries, fell silent at 11am at the Leighton Buzzard war memorial.
  • While people gathered in Church Square, the Bedfordshire Band of the Royal British Legion played. The parade came from Lake Street down the High Street, led by a marching band.
  • The service at the memorial was led by the Vicar of All Saints, and wreaths were laid by dignitaries, serving members of the armed forces, veterans’ associations and the town’s uniformed groups. A service inside All Saints followed.
  • In Linslade, a short service was held at the war memorial with wreaths and the local community.

The poppy displays

Residents’ knitted and crocheted poppies go up around the town each November. In recent years they have been on the River Ouzel bridge, in the Linslade Garden of Remembrance, at the chapel in Vandyke Road Cemetery and on the Market Cross. The council is collecting poppies for the 2026 display: take them to The White House on Hockliffe Street, or email the council at info@leightonlinslade-tc.gov.uk. Getting there

The parade uses Lake Street and the High Street during the morning. No road closure notice for 8 November has been published yet; this page will add the closure times when Central Bedfordshire Council issues them. What is still to be confirmed

  • The time of the Linslade Act of Remembrance.
  • The road closure for the parade, expected from Central Bedfordshire Council in October.
  • Any Armistice Day event on Wednesday 11 November. None is announced.

The Christmas season starts three weeks later with the Christmas lights switch-on on Friday 27 November.
