Henlow Racing Limited's statement of affairs lists a £2,276,092 shortfall: £1m to HMRC, £142,309 to six staff, £94,744 to the greyhound regulator.

Henlow Racing Limited, the company behind Henlow greyhound stadium, has been wound up owing £2,276,092 more than it expects to raise, according to the statement of affairs its director signed and filed at Companies House. (Statement of affairs, Companies House)

Members and creditors resolved to wind the company up voluntarily on 27 July 2026, and appointed Matthew Hoy and Shane Biddlecombe of TruSolv Ltd in Southampton as joint liquidators. The company’s principal trading address is given in the notice as Bedford Road, Lower Stondon, Henlow, SG16 6EA. It was incorporated in May 1997. The company’s status at Companies House now reads “Liquidation”. Its accounts to 31 December 2024, due by the end of last December, are still recorded as overdue, as is a confirmation statement due in February. (Companies House, company 03373686)

Who is owed what

The statement of affairs, dated 17 July 2026 and signed by director Kevin Andrew Boothby, lists 63 creditors owed £2,133,783 between them, plus six employees.

The largest claims are:

  • HM Revenue and Customs, £1,001,260 in VAT and PAYE
  • Npower Business Solutions, £111,242
  • Greyhound Board of Great Britain, £94,744
  • Cowley Property Investment Limited, £90,000, listed elsewhere in the statement as a landlord
  • BizCap UK, £66,440
  • James Owen Racing, Newmarket, £52,326
  • TC Lister & Co, £49,288
  • Rook Bristol Financial LLC, £47,045
  • Mentor Distribution Limited, Henlow Camp Industrial Estate, £38,660
  • Crossing Cottage Kennels, £36,519

Two more local firms appear further down the list: Galasso Signs of Hitchin, owed £2,868, and AJ Installation Team Ltd of Double Arches Business Park in Leighton Buzzard, owed £208. Anglian Water Business is owed £23,293 and Crown Gas & Power £13,539.

The statement also records debts to Oxford City Council (£805), West Northamptonshire Council (£4,630) and Mildenhall Stadium Ltd (£10,500), which is a picture of a business that reached well beyond Bedfordshire.

A director’s loan account in Mr Boothby’s name is listed among the unsecured claims at £120,000. He is also recorded as the company’s sole shareholder, holding 8,730 ordinary shares.

Six staff are owed £142,309

The employee schedule lists six people. Between them they are owed:

  • £6,627 in wage arrears and holiday pay, which ranks as a preferential claim
  • £135,681 in redundancy and notice pay, which does not

That is £142,309 in total, and only the first £6,627 of it sits near the front of the queue.

Against all of that, the company’s assets are listed at book value but almost entirely marked “Uncertain” or “NIL” as to what they will actually realise: freehold and leasehold property at £655,964, plant and machinery at £469,848, stocks at £687,262 and other debtors at £3,104,249. The line for assets available to preferential creditors reads NIL.

What we could not confirm

We could not establish from a first-party source today whether greyhound racing is still taking place at the Bedford Road site. The stadium’s own website, henlowdogs.co.uk, is still online and carries the company’s copyright notice, but it lists no fixture dates. The Greyhound Board of Great Britain says it regulates 18 licensed tracks in Britain; the site does not publish that list in a form we could read today, and it has issued no statement about Henlow. (Racecourse licensing, GBGB) We have not repeated other outlets’ accounts of when racing ended, because we could not check them against a primary record.

A statement of affairs is the director’s own estimate at a moment in time, not a final account. The liquidators will now realise what they can and report to creditors, and the figures can move a long way in either direction. Creditors who believe the record is wrong deal with the joint liquidators, whose contact details are published in the Gazette notice.
